Did you know........
When I was a child, maybe around 8 years old I nearly drowned. I remember it as clear as day. A neighbor on our street in Dublin City always took a group of us kids from the road off to the beach. " Ask your Ma & Da for bus & train fare" she'd say & she took care of the rest. Off she would go on the public bus from the estate into Dublin City Centre & hop the train with us all to the beach. Getting thrashed & trying to hold our own against them & not get knocked off. Then one just took me out! I flew backwards off the bar & went under. I remember the bubbles & the sound of thrashing underwater. Then within a few seconds I was grabbed by the arm by one of the older lads that was with us on the bar. It was so scary! Since then, the fear of drowning has always being in my min...
Paddle with Care on Utah Lake ( ANNUAL EVENT )
Paddle with Care on Utah Lake in our annual event with Utah Lake Authority & in partnership with the ULAs Life Jacket Loaner Program. Paddle with Care is care taker of some of these stations & it truly is an honor. The program was created back in 2021 after the passing of two best friends on the lake. Their families along with ULA came together after the tragedy & created this life saving program for lake users. Since 2022, we have gathered community to paddle a route on Utah Lake in memory of those who lost their life on the lake, educating the community about water & raising funds to maintain the life jacket loaner stations around Utah Lake. This event typically takes place every May, the weekend before Memorial weekend, weather depending of course. Registration opens in January. The Life Jacket Loaner Program has reduced deaths & drownings on Utah Lake. The stations post as educational monuments for people visiting the lake. The...
